Blueberry

DJ Short, a true genius in cannabis genetics, created Blueberry, as well as many other varieties such as Vanilluna and F13.

In the 1970s, most American growers worked with Sativa varieties from Colombia, Mexico, Thailand and Panama, as well as a handful of Indica strains.

One of the greatest strains to emerge from this genetic maelstrom was Juicy Fruit, a strain that became famous for its beefiness and was appreciated for its sweet, fruity taste. Juicy Fruit was a cross between Sativa strains from Colombia, Mexico and Thailand, and was about to become one of the main strains behind DJ Short's most famous creations.

DJ Short loved growing another strain at the time, an Indica Afghani grown from Oregon to California. A smaller, sturdier plant, this Afghani was the perfect specimen for creating hybrids that were easier to grow and manage, especially indoors.

One day, DJ Short decided to cross these two strains and made history. That day, Blueberry was born. In the 1990s, DJ Short teamed up with Dutch seed bank Dutch Passion, who gave Blueberry a prominent place in their seed catalogue.

In 2000, DJ Short and Dutch Passion won first prize for 'Best Indica' with their Blueberry at the legendary High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. As a result, Blueberry became famous the world over and remains an ultra-popular strain to this day.

Its mild, herbal taste is reminiscent of a blend of citrus fruits, blueberries, banana and mango. In its CBD version, Blueberry will leave you feeling super relaxed, and it helps combat anxiety and insomnia. So it's best consumed in the evening, unless you've got nothing to do and don't mind a nap on the sofa.
